Mini R50 bumper removal & fitting reversing sensors.

So my mother wanted me to fit reversing sensors to her lovely little 2006 mini cooper.
Here is how we did it.

I got the sensors from Ebay and they were £11.98 for the set.

Tuned in to sus out bumper removal, know know exactly how. Bonus was how you removed the lucks spades from the rear light plug ans solderes on the piggy-back wires, that's going to be a really usefull trick forbconnecting the towbar 12N socket wiring. I don't like scotch-blocks either, so your solution makes a really meat way to hide the soldered connection. My opinion is that if you paid a "so called" professional to do that job, there's a very high likelihood that it wouldn't have been done anywhere near as well.

For future reference; the factory-installed sensor positions are marked on the inside of the bumper. They are not to different, but for ease of ‘measuring’, could be useful?

Just a bit of a trick for measuring the height placement, offer the bumper back up (just use one or two fasteners to hold it in place) and use the ground, ruler and a level to get the height, then use your masking tape and pencil to mark a wide horizontal line for wiggle room then you can take the bumper off and do your horizontal measurements in sure knowledge that as long as there's nothing wrong with the suspension/chassis then the height will be even. You could also get the horizontal centre line by putting two long planks/poles down the sides of the car poking out the back and taking the centre from those then use a level to mark centre on the bumper above that centre.

I did my mini exactly the same . The sensors bip at start ( I assume the car is testing everything including reverse light), but then it bips once every 3-4 minutes while driving forward, I can't figure out why... Have you had the same issue? Have you any idea why it could do that?
