Catalina is a sophomore at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She graduated from Park City High School in Park City, Utah.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. One of the many reasons why she has been my inspiration and idol since 2009. Wouldn't be where I am without her amazing strength.

I'm happy for her, that she has such familial support, and I belive that for all of us who have a family like hers and don't appreciate them, it's about time we realise that. However, I do think this is quite a sensitive topic and can exclude people who have neglectful parents and basically a family that isn't there for them.
