Punggol is a poor neighborhood in Singapore, but it is already way better than most middle class neighborhoods in other countries.

Singapore has no other strengths than serving as a shipping port and a stable tax haven for international finance. As long as they remain politically stable and the shipping lanes don't change, Singapore will stay wealthy. Imo, one alternative that could further long term economic stability is investing in gambling, become the Monaco/Macao of South East Asia.
