Love these setup videos.
My biggest worry for people looking to go for the first time is the cost - including bags you’ve probably got £1K-£1.5K worth of bikepacking kit there. For a night or two away - which may boot end up being someone’s cup of tea - it’s a huge investment and probably prohibitive for many. Sadly the gear does cost a lot especially if you want it good and small enough to fit into bikepackung setup (and aren't sponsored). Even bits of my old high end lightweight touring setup are too big and I needed even smaller kit.
That said I’d encourage people to start maybe borrowing or just stay in a b&b or whatever and still enjoy a good multi day trip.
Not sure I’d take two of those lighter thingy’s. I’ve got a flint type one but to be honest nothing beats a lighter and they’re small and cheap and in many situations just better. You only know once you find yourself struggling to light something while someone with a lighter does it in an instant!
Looking forward to see where you go.

Enjoy your trip, it’s always good to see your adventures. Happy bikepacking from the cold and wet North East.

Hi Juliet regarding tent and something to consider, for the same weight you can have a Hilleberg Enan, a huge upgrade in shelter in terms of comfort / cooking and what it can take if you get caught out on multiday trips or if going remote where a shelter fail would be an issue this time of year. Combine it with the Nammatj 10mm black pole if you really want to push the edge of its performance envelope. Certainly a worth investment and about the best tent for bikepacking (ive tried alot!) for solo trips. As for your kettle, carry a lenght of 3mm guy line, wrapped around the 2 handles with a central line through and knotted off when you set up camp give's you a non burn handle and takes less than a minute to setup/wrap away (ive lost times lol the amount of times burnt prior, its always that thin blister on the two fingers which is a total arse when in the drops shifting and on a de-teched bike for trips)! Also again if remote i carry the plastic gas stand as i spare and use the MSR lowdown stand adapter, its sooo good at improving stability/safety on uneven ground, or in wind, way easier to adjust cooker power and well for 170 grams whilst not the lightest the improvement it brings is an essential i think.

Edit - Also after making the switch to Tailfin from Apidura and other saddle bags, no going back. Worth checking out when you get time, and lots of options on the panniers that literally cover any trip length, but id recommend the top bag for its stability its literally the best system ever used. Has carbon options but i use alloy (super remote trips).

Really nice video.
Consider adding a chain cutter (some multitool comes with a chain cutter in it), a chain link, a compact air pump (yes you have the co2, but a pump is always handy for unlimited air).

For the light mount, you can use a small plastic circular tablet box with a 5M hole drilled in it. Ask nicely at you local chemist. I use one on the fork to throw more light along the grass verge on country roads to avoid any nasty surprises.

Just a recommendation, you might want to get yourself a bivvy bag for the sleeping bag and when packing, place the bag at the bottom of your dry bag. If it's raining when your setting up, at least your sleeping bag can stay dry until your set up.

I'm sure you already know this and you only had it packed that way for camera purposes.

Tank for the Video .
I noticed that you put your sleeping bag after your tent. This means that if it rains you have to take out your sleeping bag before you can pitch your tent.
It's not a big deal, but if you change the order in which you pack it, it can make life easier in case of rain.

Have a wonderful backpacking trip! I always love the kit and product reviews you have done as it truly helps all of us buy a great product that works the first time instead of throwing cash to the wind. Thanks again for another great video.

Great video, thanks! Subscribed!
Now I live in Germany (Dusseldorf) and bought my gravel bike almost year ago. I want to start assembling my setup for long trips.
From the beginning I'm not planning to stop for the night in a wild places, because in here i believe not so much places where I can't reach hotel. I can ride 100-150km/day easy and even want to try to go to Amsterdam in 1 day (230km only - twice way to Cologne and back).
But I'm tired to use my backpack and want to buy a bag like an initial setup.
I'm thinking about frame bag 3, 5 litter. Looks like it should be enought for pump, multitool, tube, protein bars, documents, charger, lock.
Next will be handlebar bag - for the raincoat, tshort and underware. Maybe on this point I'll try mug + gas and will try to cook something...
About the prices: not sure if it is working the same way like with youtube subscription, but... I will try to find something in Turkey. We bought very nice camping chears there for a reasonable prices compare to German.
Good luck with your trips, they should be amazing!

Great video and yes please to the tent review. Quick note about the light holder, make sure that you grease the bolt as mine corroded quite quickly, or swap it for a stainless steel bolt and washer, still grease it.
