Using the lids for painting the actual color is ... mindblowing, why haven't I thought of that :O

finally someone who tried the "normal" painting test route.

So instead of treating this rehydration trait like a flaw, and trying to force it into your workflow, you just adapted your workflow and turned the trait into a strength. That is awesome, keep up the good work!

So the rehydration thing let's you achieve something similar to an oil wash without having to buy all the extra stuff you need to do an oil wash? Definitely sounds like a benefit.

That opening about killed me. 🤣

Also, zenithaling and painting the caps is a really great idea!

I've never seen such heresy as painting lego bricks different colours!

I started working with mine today, and i'm really enjoying them. I love that they don't have that splotchy effect that GW's Contrast Paints leave behind.

As a 34 year long dark angel player I would add the ap you did to my army and melt down the contrast one. Yes my first marines where black in colour and from the 30 marine box.

Awesome video, I find the Army painter speed paints to be fairly consistent but just gotta understand the caveats, the Citadel contrast paints from the ones I have tried seem to act differently from one another, and the splotchy look drives me a bit insane... doing extra layers makes the color look smoother but just really dark. I have my likes and dislikes for both... nice to have options just wish the Army Painter stuff was sold individually as the mega set does have some stuff I like thats not in the little set.

Well that speed paint on the marine sold me…. I definitely want to try it now on the rest of the marines.

I am just entering this hobby via Kill Team. I never painted miniatures before and put off painting them until these paints came out. So I have no experience with any other paints. My minis look better than I expected them to and that may have inspired me to try other methods. For someone with no painting experience, I think these paints are fantastic. I'm very happy with my results.

I just got my speed paint starter set today, I’ve only messed with contrast medium from GW and it seems ok.

I’ve been liking your videos more and more lately but this video is what sold it for me. Great demonstration!

Thanks mate, you’ve sold me on the new stuff. And the fact that i can rehydrate it is actually fantastic.

Painting the caps is a brilliant idea...going to steal when my speed paints arrive.

One other advantage of the reactivation is that you can "clean" off over paint. In some of the review videos, they tried to correct over paint by covering it up with more of the base white colour, which didn't work because it just mixed with the other paint. This is the normal approach with acrylics as errors can be covered once dry. With the reactivating colour, you could simply rewet it and clean it off. Or if your are painting the area with a darker colour it likely won't matter that some of the other colour gets mixed in.

So, I've been using these for quickly painting up mobs for D&D. They work really well for a one layer paint job that is quick and easy because I have difficulty with painting for a long period of time. I was injured years ago and my right arm tends to start hurting really badly after a while, so I can't really paint large groups of models for a long time. I really appreciate paints like this that work quickly and needing very few layers to get done
