By the sounds of it most of your family make decisions and expect family doing better than them to bail the out. That's just not acceptable.

My family discovered that my grandfather left his wife and kids due to a secret affair he was having. It’s also my belief that he was a very troubled man (also with addiction) and although he said he wanted kids, he wasn’t prepared to be father when it happened accidentally (my dad). This was back in the day when couples were pressured into getting married because of accidental pregnancy. One day he just started packing his stuff and my dad begged him not to go. He was then abusive to my dad and never came back. This has deeply impacted my dad for over 50 years.

I won a lottery, not much, about $40k. But that enough to make me stop working without telling my boss, having party whole week, & etc. 1 year later, I suddenly realised what I had done. After checking bank account is empty.

Christ, these stories were cathartic for me. I had to cut my mom from my life, because she lawyered up and sued me to try and get my dads money and claimed i owed here tens of thousands of dollars... want a tip. Never mix finances with family.

I didn’t cut off my whole family, but the concept of family is kinda dead to me now. Realized I was headed down the path of a miserable life if I continued my connections with family. Moved out with urgency knowing I was never gonna move back home or even in close proximity. I live 4 hours drive and will see them during holidays. I have a large family and they’re not all terrible, but some actually are. I realized they’re all just humans like anyone else and if I made friends like them, I would simply stop hanging out with them altogether.

2ed story makes me pissed. Mother was a asshole and even i. Death was controlling her son. That note is nothing but a fuck you I get the last say when I die and I'm going to make you feel like shit.
