The point of automating network operations is to reduce the number of repetitive manual tasks that we as network engineers need to do on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. The goal is to make us more efficient, less stressed and more compliant to security and engineering expectations, as well as improving consistency of our networks.

But in the resource constrained and cost conscious world of Healthcare, it's difficult to embark on network automation projects for fear of wasted time and high initial cost of deployment. The danger is that as we are being taught to programme in Python and use open source tooling, we naturally approach network automation by reinventing the wheel and scripting from the ground up every time.

Instead of taking that approach, Joe Kershaw and Daren Fulwell from the IP Fabric team presented a webinar on 17th June 2020 to illustrate what we are doing to make these efficiency gains a reality without breaking the bank, or your network - relevant to any network engineers within the NHS or indeed outside.
