Finally I understood longitudinal wave 👌

Are the area’s in between each darkened block representative of the compression? If it is what would create the vibration of the wave if it was an independent source you didn’t have to control like operating the movement of the slinky?

Love the Flux Capacitor in the background!!!

"Up and down and back" is a confusing way to describe transverse waves, because longitudinal waves go "back and forth".

so why wouldn't light and other EM waves travel in a transverse motion and not a longitudinal one??? just seem much more efficient. Maybe tesla was truly onto something, and got himself damn near erased from history. Crazy that he still is ahead of his time, well to the general public.

Hi, Iḿ looking for a Demonstration for Longitudinal Wave for my class and your Demonstration ist great! I often use a slinky too but with the construction in your video, itś much better to see the wave. Would you share how do you build the construction ? A feedback from you would be great....

Sweet flux capacitor. See you in 1985.

That's not a longitudinal wave, that's an illusion for a longitudinal wave. The oscillation occurs via resonance through the rod above into the strings.

That is not longitudinal. That is transverse.
