PS4 Controller Charging Port Replacement

If anyone else is wanting to do the repair themselves just make sure you know which style of charging board you have before buying one because there are at least 4 different styles. To find out which one you have you need to look at the model number on the back of the controller or just open it up and see for yourself.

There is also another port at the front of the controller where you can charge it
It has EXT written on the controller
It's called the EXT port it's a secondary
Charging method.

To those who are not sure which charging board part to buy: When you take the charging board out just turn it over and you will see the part number. Mine was exactly the same as the one in this video, a JDS-030. Also, a good way to prevent tearing the foam piece he tore in half is to use your fingernail... start from the top of the foam piece and gently scrape it up very slowly.

I did this but replaced the charging port and maybe others with another controllers that had a different problem but it still won’t charge and now the light bar won’t work what do I do

Thanks! I tried to go the easy way and switch the whole back piece i took from my other controller, apparently there's different versions of the back piece so it didn't fit. So had to switch the actual port. The connector was on the opposite side but it works!

I bought a JDS-030 port, but it quickly over heats when I plug it in, doesn't light up, and isn't recognized by my PC. Does it matter at all if my original port was a JDS-040? Or is the port I bought just bogus?
