happy disability pride month! I wanted to recommend some fictional books that prominently feature themes of and characters with disability and chronic illness, let me know if you've read any of these and what you think :)

I plan to read A Spindle Splintered and Just By Looking At Him next month. I loved The Girls I've Been, the PTSD rep is also so very real. I relate so much to that book. All's Well was such a legit image of chronic pain. I had a pain condition for a year that was most days, all day over 15/10 on a pain scale and no one was able to help/ or any cure thing I tried. It eventually magically, went away. All's Well was so relatable I cried my eyes out.

I can alsp recomment lakelore by Anna-Marie McLemore which is a YA about two trans nonbinary neurodivergent main characters! One of them has adhd and the other one is dyslexic

Thank you for acknowledging disability pride month! I’d recommend you avoid the words “handicapped” and “crippling” from now on, coming from a psychically disabled chronically ill guy.

i recently read tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow which has disability rep! it was a really great book! it’s about gaming but even if you’re not keen about that topic you can definitely still enjoy it! it focuses a lot on friendship, grief, love, mental health and disability 💓

I'd definitely recommend anything by Eli Clare or Harriet McBryde Johnson! Plus, while I don't think any of them are particularly suited to your tastes, I always recommend The Arcadia Project trilogy by Mishell Baker, Our Bloody Pearl by DN Bryn, and Eight Kinky Nights by Xan West when talking about disability books! And I do think you'd enjoy Pet by Akwaeke Emezi if you haven't read that yet
