Used room temperature water to break in my glove. Absolutely fantastic results. Have not yet (big emphasis on yet) experienced any negative effects thus far.

To help with the water spots; use softened water or distilled water. Thanks for the info as always.

As a purist I want things to be the best they can. But this video got me thinking…

I read one potential con is when the water molecules bond with the natural oils they can then dry out leather when the water evaporates and can cause early breakdown of the hide.

I’d also think that a glove conditioner is not a 1 for 1 replacement for the leathers natural oil. Also while the surface has been treated is the center of the leather dried out?

That’s just a thought. In reality the leather breakdown helps it to break-in. But could a no water break in allow the leather to last longer by retaining its natural properties?

Have you ever thought of using a massage gun to break it in? I have had great luck with it! Good stuff man.

2 questions: 01 are the laces weakened by the water, especially where you cannot reach them with conditioner? 02 which conditioner do you use? bonus question, do you use glove oil?

Thank you so much for the video and info. Just got my son a 44 crown tip and followed this to a tee. Glove is on the drying table, cant wait to see how it comes out.

Do you think the water spots would happen if you used distilled water instead? Or is it simply the need to use fresh water for every glove?

Love your channel and the knowledge you bring to the baseball/softball community. I've learned a lot about the sport I would not have otherwise thanks to you.
I do think over the long run that fully immersing gloves for water forming is a bad idea. While you are able to replace the oil lost from soaking on the exposed portions of the glove, all the hidden laces and stitched areas are going to be weakened as a result of the oil loss. I would also have some concerns with mold/mildew since leather is organic and most gloves probably have a bunch of bacteria already floating around in them from our hands.
I think the massage-gun option mentioned by another commenter is the safer, albeit more time-consuming route. Just my un-asked-for opinion, keep up the good work!

Do you recommend letting them dry at room temp or in the sun?

I just got an a2000 dp15 (the david one) because of your videos, and I’m loving it so far. The break-in is going pretty slow, but its looking good so far!

Hoping for some help. Bought my 9 year old an A1000 DP. I submerged it in water and began pounding it immediately. It has been drying for almost 48 hours and the glove is completely stiff and as an adult I can't even squeeze it. Did I do something wrong or does it just need to dry more?
