RTX 2080 Super, is it the BEST USED GPU in 2023...?

When I picked up the RTX 2080 Super for $200 in the used pc parts hunt of the month, I thought it would be good value. However what I got was a card that performs better than I thought vs the RTX 4060, 3060 and RX 7600 (even tested the RX 6700 and ARC A750). This card at these prices screams value for money.

Had a 1070 for 6 years now. The 2080 Super is looking really interesting right now.

I'm loving that we're finally coming back to 2016 levels of PC price/performance. I watched a "build console killer PC" build video and the price was actually within less than $200 of a PS5. I haven't seen that since 2016 or so.

I got RTX 2080 Ti for 130 euros (137 usd) that had memory errors. I simply reflowed the affected memory chip and every other memory chip on board and it has been working perfectly since.
Now i did not simply put the GPU into the oven but used 3d printer's heated bed at 100 celcius as pre-heater and then using smd hot air station (cheap one from ebay), soldering flux and about 450 celcius heat and IR temperature meter to monitor memory chip temperature. Since i had the tools it was best bang for the buck gpu ever for me, those chips are Micron D9WCW with 2019 datecode so i got lucky there. I might attempt the 22GB memory mod using Samsung 16gbit memory chips, would be cool to have RTX 2080 Ti with 22GB VRAM.

Picked this card up in April 2024 in Australia for $200AUD - absolute steal - I play on 1440p and it easily handles everything. The undervolt is gold - as the temps drop down by at least 10degrees on extended gaming sessions.

I remember buying a brand new pair (yes for SLI) back then, and below MSRP. I sold mine to cover the 3090 in 2020, sold them at more than I got them. Crazy market back then.

Picked up the exact same card Palit 2080 super for £142 ($183) last month of eBay. Super happy with the purchase and had the ebay buyer protection (which is great).

I got a used 2080 Super last year for around 300$. I was a bit alarmed when I noticed the fans consistently going nuts under any real workload, but turned out it just needed some new thermal paste, and it's been a smooth ride since. Given the price and performance of 40 series, I'm still very happy with this decision.

I always try to undervolt and increase the clocks at the same time. Definitely can't undervolt as much that way, but I still end up saving up to 50 watts

I just got one for $100 on the Facebook market place. He took his computer parts, wanted to clean his GPU, destroyed the paste and thermal pads, and gave up. The GPU was overheating. He sold it to me. I needed 6 screws, 4 spring screws for the heatsink, and 2 more for the GPU backplane. I spent $24 on the pad, all for 125 bucks.

These are pretty good cards, especially at $200 USD. Turing wasn't a good overclocker in my experience, at least not conventionally. I had the best results concentrating on under-Volting use the Volt/Freq curve editor (CTRL - F in Afterburner), and this yielded the best overall results.

I recently found a 2080Ti Zotac AMP for 230$. Amazing card for this price!

As a 2080 super owner, this video makes me want to persist with the card another year or two before upgrading

I can tell everyone here right now, i ahve a 2080 super. And have no intention of upgrading ever again, there is no need to, it can handle any game out there. There is zero reason for me to upgrade as im perfectly happy with this card. If you can get your hands on it, go ahead

2080S can perform very close to the the RTX 3070 with some OC tweaking (OC+slight undervolt keep it under PL) My own RTX 2080S can do 1785 MHz @787mV. Shaving of 100W from the stock!! It must be a silicon lottery winner. It is a INNO3D iChill Black (LC) model which has factory boost of 2000-2050 MHz @ around 250W PL. Also the memory can run +1500 no worries (waterblock cooled memory as well)
