PEPINO MELON Fruit | Grow It & Taste Test

Показать описание
Pot grown SOLANUM MURICATUM AKA Pepino Dulce, Pepino Melon, Cucumber Melon is a perennial plant that is so easy to grow. It will continue to produce fruit for most months of the year.
I don't have the space to grow them, so I planted them in a pot. Being in a Zone 9 area and experiencing frost, it will be easy for me to move them to a protected spot during Winter.
The taste is AMAZING. Will definitely be growing A LOT MORE next year.

I love pepinos! I grew up in Peru, so they were always available at the weekly fresh market. We’d just eat them like an apple!

wonderful video. thanks. I live near San Francisco and the plants grow in pots all year round. I get fruit in Winter as well but they ripen slowly but fully! So they are sweet and juicy all year round. The last time we got a real frost here was around 2013. I love these and have 7 plants so I can have a pepino every day. The seeds germinate in 15-20 days. Easy to grow. They love water and the whole plant likes to be showered to keep the dreaded spider mite at bay. When there are NO pollinators around, the fruits are seedless.

I planted some from seed as I have never seen them here in England...They have been quite slow growers, but are outside in the sunshine now, so I look forward to tasting these beautiful melons at some point - possibly not before next year, as I'm not sure how old they have to be in order to fruit.

Great video of the beautiful pepinos can't wait for my ones to start producing fruits, I bought one plant and from that one now I do have close to 40 plants some of them already showing flowers so keeping my fingers crossed for my pepinos.

The plant is so small, but the fruit is huge. Definitely worth to plant considering similar size fruit usually come from bigger plant
