I have a lovely uncommon mother. She is an American, northeast upbringing but very honest about relationships. She told me, as I was starting to date, to be very careful when committing to a man; learn about his family, his religion et al. She was very honest and told me many cultures treat women as property but they will draw you in with short term love-bombing (she gave diff phrase). I am so grateful for her honesty with me. She and my dad saved me from so many mistakes, just by having their words in my head.

I lived in "secular " Morocco for 7 years full time and visited for 15 years before being forced to leave last year. All she says is true. The stories I could tell.
It's horrific.

I had an Egyptian Ex-Muslim GF she told me EVERYTHING, the abuse and the low morals can get much more brutal.. This Karen didn't touch the tip of the iceberg.. the stories I heard secondhand scared me for life ngl...

Because hospitality is so common and taken seriously, I think Americans aren't used to this and confuse it with love and respect for them. Every time I see a traveler on social media bragging about the hospitality they got, making the news liars about everything, i cringe. This hospitality is part of culture and socially mandatory, nothing more.

Jasmine you are so right. I was friendly with an Arab young man who worked in a deli. He told me that his goal was to join a jihad to get Spain back. How it had been unfairly taken from the Arab people. It was so unbelievable how in furiated he was and his temper grew as he talked. I couldn’t wait to leave. I stopped using that deli.

Thank you for the intetesting guest and another shocking story. Unfortunately, in the West, people will not believe these stories until they experience it themself.

I was in Luxor at the same time as Karin, and unfortunately, I also fell victim to a scam, losing around 700 euros. Thankfully, Karin was kind enough to warn me, which helped prevent an even worse situation from unfolding.

There is still young Indian man missing in Australia who was in love with Arab girl. It’s been over a decade no body has seen him or heard from him. 😢

I started to listen to this story half-heartedly and was completely absorbed. Karen sounds (tawks) just like a friend of mine from 'Noo Joisey'.

Karen survived by the skin of her teeth! I'm surprised she didn't just disappear. Please proclaim this message from the rooftops!! The West is ignorant of these realities. A friend of mine married an Egyptian. They had a son. When he decided to take their son to the country to meet his family, she conceded but refused to go. I guess she was fortunate that he wanted to live in the States.
The Arab mind set is very different. Strength must be met with strength.

Wow I loved this! Thank you so much! The name Karen actually means “ray of light” so this Karen really is living up to her name by strongly speaking the truth and telling her objective story. And it’s so interesting hearing this description of Egyptian and Arab men. It’s something that I’ve seen and experienced amongst some Sephardic Israeli communities. The amazing difference is Islam. Now that the Sephardic Jewish communities are out of the Arab world they’re allowed to evolve. My Ashkenazi cousin married a Moroccan Sephardic woman. Her mother taught all of her 5 children, boys and girls, to only marry Ashkenazi and taught her boys to not behave as the Arab men before them. My close Sephardi friends from Morocco, Egypt, Iranian etc descents all talk about how their parents taught them to be strong women and gentle and giving men. It’s amazing how quickly the culture is allowed to shift and grow. And it’s heart breaking how many people are suffering under Islam created ideology.

Great interview, thank you! Glad Karen was able to get out of that situation & decided to tell her story. Hopefully the girls she trained remember some of what she taught them🥊! Glad she was able to help her friend Gita too.

For Muslims honour is the most important. For them every dispute is fight for honour - a matter of all or nothing. Muslims never compromise because they want everything without giving anything in return. Any dispute with Muslims is unresolvable.

I am an Egyptian man and it is hard even for a man to live in Egypt. So much corruption and ignorance. You can’t express your opinion.
