Galapagos: Watch Before Going! We Spent a Month in the Galapagos, Was it Worth the Time and Expense?

The Galapagos Islands are filled with amazing life both on land and in the sea. There are so many things to do here from snorkeling with sea turtles, sharks, rays, and tropical fish to hiking up to view points and through lava fields. But the Galapagos are also very expensive, have lots of regulations, and take a long time to get to. So was all the wildlife and scenery worth the time and expense?

We travel the world full-time and we spent a month living in Puerto Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos. We learned so much while we were here and these are our thoughts on visiting the islands.

I’m in the Galapagos right now … even stayed in the same airbnb of David Andrew in Puerto Ayora!!! Wanted to say I agree 100 percent with your video. Wished I had watched it before arriving, not when departing! 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Very interesting and useful video, thank you guys. What a bummer about the guides, I hate being "guided", for the most part 😋That's just annoying. But I already suspected that. It is what it is. Thanks! 🙂

Amazing video! Could you share the tour agency you hired for the tours?

Two questions: 1) what month were you there, and was the water chilly enough for a wet suit?

Would highly recommend a live aboard cruise. There are many choices to experience this for significantly less than the $1, 000/person/day quoted in this video. The really top-end boats may cost this but we just did an eight-day cruise in February, 2023 on a first class catamaran for $600 U.S./person/day. We really didn't feel like we were lacking anything and got the full experience with comfortable accomodations, snorkeling, land excursions, plentiful and delicious foods and attentive service by the boat's staff.
