The UNEXPECTED Self-Working Card Trick - NO SETUP!

Simple, yet good. An edge case you missed with the Gemini twins move is what if the top & bottom cards are already mates? For example, if the top card is 5C and the bottom is 5S.

Three outs: 1) Just cut the cards to get a new top/bottom, 2) "burn" the bottom card & peek the new/different bottom or 3) Just go with it and pick the "color mates" of your top/bottom. So, if they are 5C/5S, pull out the 5H/5D which can seem miraculous at the end when _their_ named card is revealed to have "attracted" a four of a kind.(FYI: You'll get this same bonus result if the top/bottom is an opposite colored two-of-a-kind, say 5C/5H.)

Hi Steve, nice trick! Here's my take if the spectator names the QD in your example. I'd go "tut tut" and turn over the 2C and after a short pause reveal the QD saying "and you can't get much closer than that!"

Another fun presentation! I find it really helps credibility if either the magician or the spectator shuffles the deck at some point. Thank goodness for false shuffles!

Great trick! Thanks. I guess there would be a very remote possibility of shuffling the deck and ending with mates at the top and bottom. At that point, you could say that you actually want to give the cards an extra shuffle and then proceed.

That's nice, I like it a lot. But how would you handle another edge case, where your friend chooses the card on the top or bottom of the pack, for example you've removed QH and they say QD?
