This song is called "The unconditional". He is basically saying that he doesn't understand WHY he couldn't fall in love with her. She was always there for him, yet for some unexplained reason, he never fell in love with this wonderful woman. He recognizes that she is wonderful, a great friend, that loves him unconditionally- never expecting him to return this love. He ven says, "There were no promises between us". He is sad and is apologetic towards her.

Correct, luis miguel is known for his improvising and mixing/playing around with the sound of his songs during concerts. Luis Miguel is one of those singer who sing/sound even BETTER live ! Well... He was born in Puerto Rico. His father was a Spaniard and his mother was Italian. But he had spent most of his life in Mexico. Obviously, he has an incredible voice and musical thecnique.

He is singing about a lover, the one with “unconditional love” which is the name of the song. “You, the same as yesterday, the one I didn’t know how to love, I don’t know why… a pair of white roses, the one that doesn’t has expectations…”

In Latin culture, it was taboo for women to be sexually liberal, and although he has intense feelings for her, he didn’t know how to love her, likely bc she loved unconditionally and he has conflicting feelings about it but he still sees her in a good light, even compares her to white roses as a symbol of purity, but because she isn’t demanding more, he didn’t know what to give her and fell out of touch with the relationship. And he sort of has a resonating or lingering regret of having had that liaison (bc he had sex and it is taboo or negative to her) but not regret of having had the experience because it was a sweet, tender, positive experience for him and he attributes value to it. We use a word, “vivencias” sort of means “things we live/lived” and the song has a nostalgia that puts her into his best experiences but he has conflicting feelings as a man because he doesn’t think he did enough, so the way he pays tribute is by singing the romantic song. Notice he doesn’t disclose enough to give away her identity but compares her or their liaison to a pair of white roses despite exposing that there is not lasso or vows between them, essentially saying their liaison was still sacred in his collection of lived experiences.
