It's also important when setting up a positioner on an actuator, for a Fail-closed valve assembly, that when closed that the actuator is fully vented. And with a fail- open valve assembly, that the actuator when the valve is full closed, that the actuator is fully pressurized. This ensures that the seat load is adequate to meet its seating criteria class.
