OUTSTANDING review Kpg. You are the Roy Hobbs of speaker reviewers. Thank you.

What you hear and what we hear are two different things so I think on this occasion I'll keep my opinion to myself! Very good initial assessment! Looking forward to the review.

I've got the 896 for 3 months and sold it. Now I've got R11. The Cantons are great speakers, but in my opinion is KEF more smoother and warmer than 896. The R11 has more power at the bass. For me the best speaker that I have 👍👌😎

I upgraded my speakers just under 2 years ago. When I’m spending vast quantities of my hard earned cash, I don’t rush my purchasing decision. I auditioned dozens of speakers. Had multiple listening sessions at numerous dealers. I auditioned, ATCSCM50. Sonus, pioneer. Kef R11. PNC. Monitor Audio. Spender Etc.

The speakers I took home with me were the Kef R11. They had excellent tonality at low volume.you can drive then hard without distortion. Despite their size, they image well. The bass is authorative, smooth and precise. They represent high value and performance. They’re not perfect, nothing is! The mid-range is a tad lean and the top end could benefit from greater presence. But I have no purchase regret.

I never had Canton before but I had auditioned KEF speakers and finally had to choose B&W speakers.

Both really are great speakers, Kef is more laid back and neutral. Canton more dynamic and detailed. Really has more to do with your room, gear, and preference. I’ve had both in my house as a demo and I went the other way a kept the vento 896.2. I still really liked the r11 but they didn’t give me that realistic sound of dynamic swings I was looking for. Almost like Kef decided to round of these dynamic swings to make a more polite speaker. All that being said I’d be proud to own both.

I prefer the Kefs. More natural, open mids, great for vocals. The cantons would make a great theater setup. Accentuated highs and lows but vocals sounds boxed in.

I love it, you have two great speakers that you compared with each other and determined what you like best. You did it your way and are satisfied with your choice. That's what matters most. Don't listen to what any other person has to say, your listening experience is for you.

at 8:30 you can really hear the difference the Kef made over the Canton sound more immersive and more exciting and cleaner. Kef for the win

Honestly it’s very close, definitely have distinct sounds but maybe a matter of preference

on my headphones the Kef definitely have that fuller more immersive sound over the cantons on music but i did not hear that significant of a difference in the movie. But i also liked the canton sound.

Canton and Kefs are very similar in all areas of sonics. Cantons run away with the win with their ceramic tweeter. It gives them a holographic sound that is usually found in an electrostatic speaker. Its magical. And the Kefs are 2k more! For you, $3500 more. Makes no sense at all to make the switch especially for that amount of money

The Kef wins hands down for me. The positioning was more of a disadvantage for the Kef, because the Cantons were in front of the R11s causing a near (strong) reflection which muddies the sound. I get it, it's a lot of work moving speakers to do comparison and I am sure you realize that speakers need room to breath to sound their best, but if anyone thinks the Cantons were at a disadvantage due to narrower spacing, they have never set up two tower speakers side by side with one in front of the other, causing a nasty first reflection which drastically muddies the sound.

I have always been a Yamaha man, specifically the NS-1000M, however if Yamaha wasn't making those speakers, it would be Canton for me. The only other speakers that come close to the satisfaction of details like the NS-1000 beryllium.

Request to compare them without EQ pure audio. 🙏

I think the coaxial mid/tweet of the KEF gives them superior imaging and phase coherence.

I have the Kef R700 and love them I ordered the R6C Meta as the center

Those speakers are in totally different price classes. Would be curious about the Canton reference in comparison with the kef.
