I own the Sabre smart pepper spray. If I ever to deploy the pepper spray during a defensive incident will the unit still send alerts to my loved ones and law enforcement if the safety app is running in the background on my phone and my screen is locked?

IDKnow there's plenty of pepper/defense sprays & do you really want this stuff putting you in a place/time on your phone?
What if you use it in a questionable manner, you've allowed this stuff to prove where you were & when you were there as well as
your deployment of this spray. Perhaps you give it to a grand daughter or girlfriend but I'm leery of it being connected to a phone?
