I’m an American from Kentucky. I’m from the “big city, ” but my extended family was from rural Kentucky. That’s a hog calling contest. County fairs rural areas, especially the rural areas where pigs are raised, will have a hog calling contest. Sometimes they’re sponsored by the local 4H Club. It’s a way to have a little fun honoring their pig farming culture

Its a hog calling contest. We've got them at the state fair, and the hog call is how people call in their pigs to tell them the slop is ready. I've never lived on a farm with pigs, but the contests are fun. People come up with interesting, creative and effective hog calls. Most of them arent like this lady, it's usually people yelling the work "suey/sooie", and adding onto it.

As an American i DO know what this is! Im not from the south but i went to a agricultural high school that had farm animals! So this is a pig calling competition! Its the call that farmers use to call in the pigs from wherever they are in the vast property of the farm. So the judges judge on the sound and the effectiveness. That's all i can remember. Its a weird contest but its been around for a long time! 😅

Trust me, we are laughing at these hog calling contests too!! They are broadcast over the radio and I have no idea how they judge these contests! 😂😂😂 There are a wide variety of calls too!!

Yes, in some rural areas, they have pig/hog calling competitions. The only qualification to apply is to be willing to make a fool of yourself.
