Your videos have been extremely helpful! I've been flip-flopping for a week already between WHNP and FNP and I'm still conflicted, but I feel more informed. Thank you for the insight!

I decided to go for FNP because I really wasn’t set on one speciality over another. My own Ob/Gyn provider is an FNP and encouraged me to go for that even if I was interested in women’s health. She explained it like “what happens if I get into women’s health and I don’t love it?” With the FNP, I’ll have options to move around and find something I love! Thanks for the video!

I think it’s best to go FNP route that way if you focus on a specialty and don’t like it you have options! You can always get Certifications and addition training afterwards! Set yourself to be optimal, don’t limit yourself!

I know I’m late to the game; but thank you for this. I’ve only ever worked with babies/peds. I have no desire to work with adults. I’ve been considering a PNP program; but everyone tells me to do FNP since it’s more “marketable.” I’m glad for this reassurance that I should follow my heart.

Thank you for sharing your opinion! I live in a small area where we do not have a lot of options for Women's Health Providers. WHNP is what I am interested in pursuing and most people that I have talked to have encouraged me to pursue an FNP. Thank you for thinking outside of the box sharing your thoughts!

This is great! Makes me feel better that I'm halfway through my PNP program. 600 clinical hours dedicated to kiddos :)

Ohh, I didn't even know I needed this one. My current big interest is Peds, but I'm open potentially to Women's Health since I'm all about the moms and babies. I didn't even consider that FNPs could even work in those, but I'm glad to see now that my idea of straight up specializing is likely the best choice. Plus, I'm 90% sure I want to be in the hospital environment rather than clinic, which isn't an FNP thing really (unlike family medicine doctors who can be either outpatient or inpatient). I like the adrenaline and challenge too much to survive even a day in clinic.

thank you for this video. this was very helpful. my passion is Womans health but i felt pressured to go into FNP due to higher demand and possibly not being able to practice how i want. i didnt go to np school yet. this gave me better clarification to stick to my gut and go with whnp

Super helpful! I’ve been stuck between fnp and nurse midwifery for a while now!

You may have already covered this, but I will ask! Do you think the FNP market is oversaturated? I am in NC as well, and I have heard this from multiple people.

Four minutes in and this is already super helpful; thank you!

YES! I am a WHNP. Their are less jobs, but I feel that my education was very comprehensive in the world of obstetrics and gynecology.

This is why I am going the PA route! Lateral mobility

I’m leaning towards DNP FNP, but part of my heart is still in Women’s health after being a Labor and Delivery nurse for more than 25 years, I’m definitely not interested in CNM because I don’t want to take call. I have a few more months to make the decision but finding WHNP programs in my area is a challenge and we are not able to relocate anywhere at this time. Decisions, decisions!

Hi Liz

This was a very informative video for those trying to decide on FNP etc. I totally agree with you about the amount of time you spend on Peds and Women's Health is minimal compared to the information you are taught pertaining to caring for the Adult primary care population in an outpatient setting. I am a women's health nurse but selected FNP because I wanted to broaden the patient population I would like to care for in my career.

Thanks for sharing

my OBGYN provider is an FNP but she said the only reason she didn’t have a hard time getting in to OB is because she had 10 years labor and delivery nursing experience and postpartum nursing experience.

If I ever decide to pursue nursing again, women's health would be my main interest. I looove the NP I used to go to and she really inspired that.

This helped me SO much. Oh my gosh I can’t even tell you. I have been following my heart with applying to WHNP instead of all the outside attempted persuasions to go for FNP. I have been so torn with going with my passion in fear I wont get a job. I feel I am willing to risk it.
