Odesa is a strange city. Founded a little more than 200 years ago, Odesa (or Odessa in Russian) was meant to be the St Petersburg of the South. And for most of the XIX century it was the 3rd most important city of the Russian Empire. Odesa was the port of the South, connecting with the Mediterranean, the Caucasus, Turkey. Today Odesa is part of Ukraine but still have a distinctive and cosmopolitan feeling that make it distinct from the more traditional cities in the North
