Is the NEW Dragon's Breath Underbarrel Any Good? (Masterkey Comparison)

One addition with the launch of Season 4 Reloaded of Modern Warfare II was the Corvus Torch which is a Dragon's Breath underbarrel shotgun attachment. Today I wanted to break this new attachment down and compare it directly to the existing Corvus Masterkey underbarrel shotgun. What are your thoughts on the Corvus Torch vs the Masterkey?

KV Broadside users be like: "I needed more shotgun for my shotgun"

Its called the "Corvus Torch" in the menu's but if you equip it on a weapon it says "Fire Marshall" in-game, which, in my opinion, is a far better name.

Pre nerf it was reversed, the torch was a straight upgrade to the base masterkey

before the nerf the corvus torch was quite literally the same as the masterkey but it had dragon's breath

Masterkey has been a staple to my basic AR loadout since unlocking it. Always have a launcher on that class and it's been a solid backup for times when I'd want a pistol out.

I really do like the masterkey for just goofing around. It's super fun for invasion on like a Taq-56 or other accurate AR that doesn't have the fastest close range TTK. You can use overkill with a sniper for super long ranges, beam people at mid range with the Taq, and then shift to the masterkey when clearing buildings or tight corridors. It can also come in really handy for sticky situations with the AI in DMZ.

i’ve been using an under barrel shotgun for DMZ. if you go into a building without a shotgun in that mode you are putting yourself at too big of a risk. 2 well placed shots is enough to down a max health enemy, the swap time is also perfect for getting a down with the masterkey and finishing with the primary. it keeps shotgun users in check while still having the flexibility of an AR platform.

I have a Expedite 12 build that's made to look like a supped up masterkey that I call "the Omnikey". Gold camo with canted laser aiming to mimic masterkey aiming. It even has a golden AK charm on it as if to say "You're my underbarrel now!"

The master key attachment is helpful for situations when you want more speed instead of taking the larger mag size, but you still need a, "oh shit, they're pushing while I'm about to reload" and are met with buckshot when bunny hopping the corner 🤣

I have been using underbarrel shotguns since the OG MW2.
As an added note: the masterkey is actually hitscan, symthic confirmed it to me a couple days ago. But for the engagement distances you usually use it, is not a big deal.

This Masterkey behaves like some 1-shot shotguns in previous CoDs and those were perfectly viable if you played to its strength.

Being able to get a secondary shotgun for an attachment instead of a perk is massive and generally better then base shotguns if you play smart with it. If you thought you hated Riot Shield Turtles imagine one that can 1-shot you up close or fight at range.

If people actually realized how strong this was and used it then it would be getting nerfed hard.

I used the Masterkey when I was getting gold in the M16, and will continues to use it while getting the masteries for it

I love masterkey. At one time I was running overkill sniper + m4 with masterkey and was switching between the all of them depending on the range. Still use masterkey on one of my classes.

I use the Master Key regularly. It lends itself very well to one-life game modes like Prisoner Rescue because it allows me to always have the ideal weapon for a given situation. Also, as you showed, it works as a solid secondary.

Honestly i think they're neat ideas. I think going forward itd be cool if they give them and other shotguns the ability to blow forward a door like a grenade can to make it more like an actual breaching tool, but i think it adds a nice variety. I just hope we can see more ammunition types in MWIII, and see them AT LAUNCH COUGH COUGH

I've noticed that you cannot use these underbarrel shotguns/ attachements with drum mags, I assume it gets blocked? But what doesn't make sense is you can't use the 50 round drum mag on the Cronen Squal with the underbarrels, despite it being a bullpup design...

I used the M203 alot more and the drill charge underbarrel for ground war. pair it with restock and an extra tactical slot and munitons box you have about 4 or 5 total drill charges to overwhelm people with

in dmz or warzone depending on map size i will use the master key to move around faster and as a back up while traveling with my super slow lachmann556 or the hemlock w blackout

"Yo bro I heard you like to Shotgun while you shot gun so we put a shotgun on your KV Broadside so you can Dargons breathe while you DRAGON'S BREATHE!!!!"

I kind of want to try them on a primary AR build for Vondel, I could see it being useful to finish downed players. Instead of swapping weapons or rushing to melee or throwing a knife, you can just swap to the shotgun mode and tap them then swap back.
