fragile peace - a dream smp animatic

this has been in the works for SO LONG. It was originally going to a cute lighthearted animatic about the, like 5 minutes during the exile arc when everything seemed to be ok - then of course the festival happened, and that moment fell apart. I wasn't sure whether to finish it or not, but I decided to complete it, so now instead of being happy, it's just sad - a look at how fragile the peace was.

Techno took Tommy under his wing, tried to help him as much as he could but didn’t know exactly how to help because Tommy was in a very brittle state after exhile. Techno protected Tommy even if it meant going against Dream, and Tommy betrayed Techno. Techno was starting to see Tommy as a friend and gave him Christmas gifts too. I know why Tommy did that but it was so disrespectful to Techno to betray him like that. When Tommy finally gets back on his feet he kicks Techno to the wind like none of their bonding ever happened. I’m definitely sure Techno saw something in him that Tommy didn’t see in himself at the time and was helping him through his ptsd from exhile. Techno was definitely sad that day Tommy did that. Why does a roleplay make me wanna cry 😭😖😖

Seeing techno defend tommy just makes me realize that tommy is even more of an idiot. Techno wasn't just ready to fight 30 men for tommy, he was ready to fight 30 men AND dream. He was literally ready to fight the whole server just for tommy, and tommy instantly betrayed him.

i'm just obsessed with the way u intermingled happy/sweet moments with the moments of doubt/conflict, , , it makes the happy moments so bittersweet and it makes the painful moments all the sadder for remembering how things Could have been

I like how Techno's house is slowly becoming a major landmark despite it being "secret" and it's actually not incredibly damaged like everything else on the smp gets destroyed probably because it's a trek to get out there also everyone is likely afraid of what Techno would do to them if they did mess it up (even Phil slightly panicked and he's Techno's favorite)

I feel like no one is talking about it so I’m going to say it I love how you showed Ranboo side of it and how he was struggling to fight for L’manberg or live his life freely and have fun with techno, Tommy and Phil. Then he picks Techno’s side after he finally realizes where he wants to go after he sees tommy and the rest as people who will continue to fail because of there actions in he wants no sides so he choose the side he felt most comfortable with in can have a rest without thinking of much.

The audio editing on this animatic is what TRULY got me. The art is of course phenominal, and all other aspects as well but the audio editing you did, line choice and such, it elevated everything.

It's the fact that you can literally understand the side of everyone in the SMP. THAT'S why I love it so muccch

I think one thing this animatic shows more than most is all of the internal problems each individual was facing, rather than their responses to one large central problem. I think in the moment of peace they were able to express this more because they weren't all focused on a common goal and for a bit were working solely for themselves. I think its really cool that you could show that!

In the end, despite all the wars, betrayals, and destruction, it's just a bunch of people.
friends getting together and making something truly wonderful.
