#AmDram #Documentary #SaveOurStages
EPISODE ONE | Ladies' Day by Amanda Whittington.
Performed in January 2018, at Putney Arts Theatre - the studio.
‣ Strong female characters, losing actors a week before opening night and the realities of using fish.
RECALLS is a bitesize documentary series looking back at south west London's community theatre and it's history which stretches nearly sixty years. Each episode presents a never-before-seen behind the curtain look at how am-dram shows are created and performed. From picking the right play to staging and casting - last-minute changes and impossible feats that have entertained and moved audiences for decades.
Conceived in lockdown, and recorded via Zoom, RECALLS is a love letter to community theatre and a deep dive into the creativity and ingenuity of amateur dramatic societies.
These insightful episodes not only grant brand new access to PTC's production process but they will hopefully add to our fundraising effort - to ensure Putney Arts Theatre can re-open, and stay open, in these uncertain times.

Putney Theatre Company is a leading amateur theatre company based in South West London. We make bold, adventurous, challenging, classic, new and sometimes more than a little bit silly. Above all, our work always strives to be of the highest standard.
We are driven by a community of active members that includes local Putney residents, people from the borough of Wandsworth and from further afield throughout London. Our home, Putney Arts Theatre is the base of both Putney Theatre Company and Group 64 Youth Theatre, so we are driven by the hard work of our adult members and the playful experimentation of our youth.
