Tbh, Gonta is smarter than what people give him credit for. Everyone except Kokichi realized he's not a child-like idiot. For instance, Kokichi was the only one who took Gonta's comments about the "tiny bugs" seriously and that was why he asked Miu to create something to capture them. If Kokichi has brushed Gonta off like Saihara and everyone else, we would have gone through the whole game without knowing the Nanokumas existed.
