I really did not care about any white washing in Ghost in the Shell. But for Akira, I would have a problem if the cast is not Asian. I have a problem with a movie being made in general, and it's the same problem I have with the anime. The manga is just far more superior. I would rather see a cable TV series because it would do the story justice.

I am very excited for Jordan Peele. He did an excellent job on his first film "get out". But I feel it would be best if he at least made 2 more films of his own. That way he can create his own voice in Hollywood, , before taking on a heavy special effects sci-fi blockbuster film like AKIRA. Knowing how Hollywood operates, , If the AKIRA film doesn't deliver at the box office, , Hollywood will then consider Jordan Peele a one hit wonder with "get out" & The critics and possibly fans will shit all over him. That said I believe Jordan Peele will do a great job on Akira. Plus working with Nolan will be an excellent learning experience for Jordan. But I feel Jordan Peele should establish himself first as independent writer, Director and producing his own films. What is the big rush? Jordan Peele has a unique Way of making sensitive social subjects and commentary entertaining. I just feel he should continue on that path and not allow Hollywood to seduce him into a box that they control. But no matter what Jordan Peele decides to do, , I believe he is more then capable. May he continue to do great work.

Ghost in the Shell does kinda have a little influence on Akira's production but critic response isnt as important as the people. Power Ranger is a great example. On rotten tomatoes isnt majority negative but with the people its at 80%. The peoples opinion always means more than critics and right now Ghost in the Shell is in a good spot I think

This is ridiculous. Jordan Peele does little internet skits. To direct Akira well, you need a big name director who knows epic scale production and special effects. If they fuck this up, it will be unforgivable. Akira is a masterpiece.

I don't think he can't do it. I just don't think he should do it. This is a massive film and while Get Out and Keanu were interesting concepts, but a more experienced director should get this.

👏👏👏 I'm glad yall feel me on that. The soul of the anime has to be in there, ya know? Or at least maybe adapt some anime geared or made with Western Audiences in mind. You can't tell me a Trigun movie wouldnt be badass. Or something like that.



And I love Jordan Peele but he really really has to have the vision for this one. Or else this might be the last straw for live action....for a while.

As much as I really liked Get Out, I don't think Jordan Peele would be the right director. While he's good in both comedy and horror, I don't think he's the right director to tackle such a complex and important piece of both anime and science-fiction.
