LOL! Uber expensive AAA titles. So while AAA was towing my car to the shop, I used Uber to get home. I need to move to Sunnyvale, California, where police, fire, and EMS are all under the same umbrella. I can hardly wait for the next event to unfold...

Xonotic, Red Eclipse, Alien Arena and Warsow are great Arena shooters btw! Then there's a ton of other great Open Source games like Rigs of Rods too.

Wesnoth is great. I also prefer turn based stuff, including puzzles such as Hex-a-hop and xbomb. The LGDB page for xbomb has some tips for easy setup. Thanks for the recommendation for OpenTTD.

Battle for Wesnoth really gave me many hours of enjoyment, not to mention you could easily mod it to add new races, units and maps with incredible ease. Was really fun ...

Roguelike games are awesome, especially because many of them are open-source, and I love random and procedurally generated games, especially mod friendly ones like Dungeons of Dredmor and Dwarf Fortress

Warzone 2100
The best RTS I've ever played. There is just so much technology to research, and you get to design your own tanks based on the technology you (or your allies) have.

The song is the one in the Mass Effect 2 Trailer. Epic bonus points, Nix!

Giving you a "like" for the effort into the challenge to show some open source alternatives, though turnbased games are not my favorite thing. Keep going! :)

you can also turn Battle for Wesnoth's music off and turn on your iTunes.

couple days back, was playing a user made campaign about an Albino Troll with magical Powers while listening to Bon Jovi.

The way she said "A game in the same vein" worked so perfectly.

+5 points for featuring good games.
+5 points for doing good analysis.
+2 points for FOS games.
+2 points for your little "war games... ahhh!" thing.
-1 point for calling yourself nerdy.

Total: 13 points.
Not bad!
Insert coin to play again.

I would like to add two games to this list - Nexuiz (all platforms) and Kernel Panic (Spring engine, which is FOSS).
