I tried a brand that is comparable, and it does work. However, because of how poorly the IVT filter functions, you frequently receive false alerts caused by the presence of K or Ka band devices that are not from a police vehicle. Remember that if the cops are not using their laser guns, the radar detector won't sound an alarm. When you see a police car but your radar detector does not pick it up, that is the reason.

I got a $80 cobra and i trust it entirely. I've had it for 6+ years. not every cop is measuring. Theres wide bands, and more narrow bands. Mine has a sound for both and only the fast beep scares me, that's narrow what's gonna get you. The wider bands tells them where to look more narrowly and ive seen them zero in on me after a wider sweep and its great for that. Cops are smart and sometimes just narrow in right away but most cops are too busy to be vigilant 247. When theyve gone straight to narrow I slam on the brakes fast and it's worked so far but I never like to hear that first. Most cops like 95% are slack and use wide first but yeah, and if they straight to laser you without using those bands first youre lucky if you're 20over and react fast enough, but they need good aim or to sneak up on you. You learn to spot false alarms like remembering what stores and where they happen so you just don't speed in those areas, false rarely surprise me.

Is it just me or do cheap radar detectors come with many more accessories compared to higher end detectors? My first detector, a Cobra, was not too bad. But since upgraded to a Whistler, which works perfectly. I do not like vocal alerts and much prefer beeps and squeals. 🤭

Actually I enjoyed your video. You were very honest about the product. The fact that you said you almost threw it away, but decided it was better than nothing was great. It's like with all things... we all must make our own decisions about what is best for our needs, and to be frank I just ordered one from ebay that was only $15.07 including tax, so you just can't go too wrong for that kind of price.

Hey, if you pass a cop and the radar is off. Your radar detector will not pick him up since he's Radar gun is off. So maybe it does work perfectly fine. You Mentioned that sometimes it goes off and you don't see a cop around... it's because they can be on side roads and if you radar has far enough distance to pickup the cop cars radar. It will. Or they can be hiding.

My friend's got either a $200+ uniden or escort that beeps like super frequently in a round trip I was with him, and I never saw one cop car anywhere. And we live in Texas so it's pretty much flat terrain except some elevated highways. So idk if those are actual cops or false alarms, just to give you guys an idea of how "expensive" ones are like lol.

what works better is getting a cheap 8$ chinease walkie-talkie handheld radio, programing in all the encrypted hwy patrol frequencies into a channel list, and then having the scanner mode cycle through them quickly. pair it with the crappy short antena that comes with it, because every patrol car is also a repeater for their radio frequencies, and because they talk on the radio non stop, it will give you a mile or two warning before they are ever in eyesight in rural areas. and its also a working emergency radio which no one seems to think is important. they can try to be sneaky and not turn on their radar guns, but they wont realize their squad car is constantly blasting out their position beyond line of sight.

Dude that bubble on top does absolutely nothing pop the front off very easy it looks like a horn inside with a pcb board and a speaker
