Good job. Reed is a winner. You should be getting tons of fruit in a few years.

I picked my reed last week and it was still a little watery and bitter near the skin. I guess here in Norcal bay area, it needs to hang longer. Funny thing is my Holiday is supposed to be a later variety but I picked that a week before and it tasted good. Gotta experiment when each variety is ready to pick.

Easy to peel when ripe and so good! Test at the stem top with a toothpick. Not so good if cut too soon.

All my reed avocados were plucked off the tree last month by my Labrador retriever. They were all low hanging fruit. Hopefully next year I will build a fence to prevent that from happening again.

Gotta be very patient with those Reed fruits... overwintering is best but it was so large and tempting...

Hi. How old was your Reed avocado tree when it first bore fruit?

Question. When will the Lamb Hass avocados be ready for picking. They fruited in spring. I'm in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles zone 10a

My husband thinks our avocado tree Issa Reed but I’m not so sure. Last year we had our first fruit and it was large like the one you’re showing. This year the tree is full of avocados but they’re smaller than an average haas. The flesh is relatively watery compared to the haas and the fruit takes a long time to ripen after picked. Maybe they should be left on the tree longer. Anyway, is the flesh in your reed watery?
