Between SBF's own public statements, and the Congressional hearing from the new FTX CEO, there's a lot to show that they intentionally defrauded investors.

didn't he like mislead people in order to inflate the price of his coin which if you think about it a coin is kind of like a stock or security and lying about your assets in order to inflate stock prices is a crime here in the United States of America

He wasn't allowed to take the money from the accounts he was handling. He wired that money to a private account. Technically he stole money that he was contracted to handle in the simplest of terms. So what he did was Technically illegal.
