There have been much worse accidents on movie shoots, some ending with people losing limbs, getting paralyzed, and getting killed. The shot used in the movie is not the one in which Miss Hamilton was injured. She got second degree burns on her face and third degree burns on her right hand; that was it, and that was enough. The make-up did not contribute to her burns; they got it off of her before it could.
