This is beautiful! I love scrappy projects when they are well executed like this! The little granny squares offer so much concentrated variation in color in a smaller space that just makes you feel happy! The biggest advantage to a big project for any crafter is that the process is what makes the finished product so much more enjoyable!

I have one of these. It's a blanket scarf made out of scrap lace yarns. I didn't do mini granny squares but double crochet squares sized 2x2 inches. I totally forgot the hook size, but it somewhere around 0.8 to 1.2 mm. And yes, it's already about 20 years and we still use it as a throw in our living room.
