The Secret to Effortless Piano Playing...

Показать описание
The secret to effortless piano playing is… 👇🏼
…the right hand (and bench) position. ✅
And the good news is that it’s super EASY to find the right hand position.
Did you know that your hand is in perfect posture whenever you’re relaxed? 😲
👋🏼 To see this in action, simply shake out your hand. Notice the beautiful, gentle curve of your fingers? That’s exactly what correct piano hand posture looks like! 🫳🏼
🎹 Now, place your hand on the keys, keeping this curved position intact. The tip of each finger should be touching the keys.
🌉 If you’ve maintained the curved hand shape, your knuckles will automatically be raised. This is important, since the knuckles are the framework of the hand.
Keeping your knuckles up (not collapsing) makes them strong—like the arches of a bridge. This keeps your hand stable, curved, and relaxed as you’re playing.
🫳🏽 Keep your wrist either level with or slightly above the knuckles. This position allows for perfectly free movement in whatever piece you’re playing. Always keep the wrist very flexible, but never floppy.
🪑 Adjust your bench height until your elbows are slightly higher than your wrists. Why is this important?
💪🏼 This gentle incline helps you use gravity and arm weight to press the keys instead of finger strength, eliminating tension and fatigue.
⚡ This incline opens the highway for an efficient transfer of energy. Your arm can now act as a highway to move the energy from shoulder through the forearm and directly into the fingertips. You’re not “breaking the flow” by having the elbow, wrist, or knuckles too low.
Playing with the correct hand and arm position is how you ✨ eliminate tension and fatigue ✨ from your practice!
