If you have a French curve you can change any neckline. use the French curve to measure the neck of a top you like the neck of and find the numbers on the curve example 14 to 20 lay the curve of your pattern and redraw your necklines silhouette patterns have all kinds of videos showing how this is done.

For the first suggestion on a high neck t-shirt, you could try the infamous M6886, which many sewists have hacked. I've made 8 different versions I've hacked. It's a tried and true pattern. Glad you enjoyed shopping in our neck of the woods (USA). I still need to get to LA to the fabric stores.

Hi Lizzie, just wanted to say what a great video of your trip to the US that was and such gorgeous fabric shops 😍. Love your fabric choices and looking forward to seeing your makes 😊😘

The orange/black stretch fabric - I would do a loose turtle neck. For the blue fabric, be sure to check the back of the pattern on what type of fabric is suited for it. I made the mistake of trying to make top with the wrong fabric and It was an awful. The feather fabric, I see a scarf. I am glad to see you had fun, .

Have you checked out the toaster sweater for the black and gold / burnt sienna fabric? Brilliant pattern by sew house seven.

Check out Sew House Seven's Toaster Sweater...one version is cropped but the other version has a high neckline and is longer and loose fitting. I've made both styles and really like the loose fitting one - it's very comfy to wear.

I was wondering, if u follow channel, Mimi G style, she lives in L.A. She designs for Simplicity patterns. She has a shop there, I think she may have been glad to meet a London sewist.

What about the boxy top in Makers Atelier magazine for the feathers? Think that would look nice as it’s simple to show off the print. Or a SOI shift dress top

I looked at TheFabricStore online and they do have some fabulous fabrics. And though their prices are high they seem to carry top quality and the fabrics run wide. The print you purchased from there is perfect for you. For makes what about a peplum top? Or maybe Vogue 9299 (though I would do the sleeves differently), V1456 or V9004 with a 3/4 length sleeve. Simplicity 8845 is stylish or Butterick 6134 for a totally different look.
Your blue fabric will be perfect for the Tilly & the Buttons dress. 10% lycra is very high, you could make any knit pattern with that.
For Mood Fabrics, with Hollywood being housed in LA, they would get a lot of costuming business. I didn't know they had a store in LA but it all makes sense.
Polypropylene is what I have used for sportsware like ski suits and jackets. It's a type of plastic and is water proof, dries fast, a wind breaker, mold resistant, and strong. It will be lovely in the coco jacket; a nice first jacket.

I think you should raise the neckline on the top you’re wearing and use that for that first fabric which is really gorgeous.

A fabric ban doesn't count when you're on vacation. Beautiful buys. Looking forward to seeing your makes.

You could try the Freya top in Tilly’s new book. It looks like the coco but with a higher neck line and either miss off the neck band or make it narrower.

Style changes are easy with a French curve, hint, hint. Why buy another pattern?

Lizzie, I'm just about to the 3rd (of 3) Sew Over It classes for the Francine jacket. I've only been sewing for 13 months and almost chickened out, but like you I must find a way to include some tailored clothes. Believe me, you could do this course (!) and the result is amazing... Not just the jacket itself, but a pattern tweaked to you and you get to learn from the other folk's fabric choices, too, which is incredibly valuable to me at this stage.

Lovely fabrics Lizzie and looks like you had an amazing holiday. How about McCalls 6751view D for the blue feather fabric. I have the pattern but haven’t tried it yet but looks like a nice floaty style top for summer.

I have raised the neckline on the Agnes as found it far too wide and low. You could do the same with the Coco.🤗My only suggestion is the Scout tee and they have just brought out a sleeve extension pack.

Really loved the tobacco and black looking fabric. It will go great with your coloring! If you ever visit the U.S.'s east coast, come to Pensacola, FL up in the panhandle. We have the most gorgeous white sand beaches! You will love it!

I saw a kimono made with the same type of the purple feathered fabric (it was purple with little umbrellas in similar colors) and it was beautiful! Maybe, since you like a little cover, that would make a nice top with good flow. LOVE the fabric you found!!

Lovely fabric you've got! I have a suggestion for your fantastic knit fabric, it's a dress but I thought you can hack it into a top, it's New Look 6469. Good luck with your sewing! Looking forward to seeing the finished garments! 😊
