MPs arrested and released the day of protests

Four opposition Members of Parliament were among the people arrested today as police moved to prevent any gatherings at the Nairobi Central Business district. The four MPs that included the minority leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi were arrested near the Kenyatta International Conference Centre KICC, the appointed assembly point for the Azimio La Umoja protesters. The 4 MPs were released on cash bail and are set to be arraigned on Thursday.

Police interference with demonstrators should be blamed for the violence that was witnessed .Their actions had reverse consequences and should not have been tolerated.
