As a proud owner of a 3080 from this wonderful channel I can say I have no need to upgrade.

Plan is to go from my FE 3090 to the FE 5090. got a good 5 years with it so far, change up every 5 years seems to be the plan

I still have an RTX 2080 TI. I’m holding out for the 50 series, but i still won’t buy one right away. I’ll wait about six months and see how things go.

My birthday is in 2 weeks and iv been saving my penny’s for a while. Gonna treat myself to the white Asus Strix 4090. I already gave my son the 4080 so I have to get something soon

I went from GTX 1050 Ti to 4070 Super. I am good until 7000 or 8000 Series.

The bit about the 3080 jump to 4080 being luke warm is totally incorrect, the 4080 is 50% faster thats a huge jump, it was the price that was off

I have a 7800XT and I've been trying to hold out for a 5090, knowing that the 5080 is not likely to be so hot. That 7900 XTX does keep tempting me though as its price seems to keep going down. It's tough to wait for us midrange people, but yeah I agree someone with a 4070 is probably doing fine like I am. The wait is probably going to be worth it for 5090, nothing else is going to be close to its performance anytime soon! Thumbs up!

I don't have a GPU right now but I want to play in 4K with ray tracing.

Ive got a RTX 4080, Ill think about upgrading to a RTX 7080 or the AMD equivalent when we get there. My CPU, Mobo, and Ram are due for an upgrade first any way.

I sold my $1600 4090 for 1899, so I'm good to go thanks.

my opinion with GPU and CPU is to skip generations. If you have a 4090 you WONT NEED to upgrade to 5090, but many will do it just so as to have the latest and be the guineapig for errors LOLOL.

How is the GPU power thing going to work going forward? If their is a limit on how powerful a GPU can be does that mean nvidia can never ever make more powerful GPU's? Obviously not. But at some point they are going to have to suck the lemon and make cards but not sell them into China. As cards get more powerful, and that power filters down the product stack, they might find they cant sell ANY cards at all into China, because even the lower end 50 or 60 cards (in whatever series in the future are made) are so powerful that they hit that limit.

The real reason to upgrade now, is to avoid any potential supply constraints. NVIDIA has already said that GDDRX memory is in short supply. Don’t wait until Nov or Jan to upgrade. You’ll be met with too many new customers into the space competing for higher end graphics cards and prices could swell!

I bought 4070 super gonna skip out 5000 series

Have a 4070 TI Super so the 50 series isn't likely to entice me to upgrade.
I'll wait to see what AMD releases next as I would like to go back to Radeon.

To be worth it with the prices it should be a 80-100% performance increase changing from a 80 card to newest 80 card. Still not sure if 3080 to 5080 will be worth it. Probobly wait to 6080

OK, I have a nice 3090 MSI Suprim that I bought used 2 years ago. I always wanted a 4080 for my build but at $1200+ I said "never". Lately I've had opportunities to get lightly used ones on eBay for $850 or so. Is it worth it now to upgrade so I can still sell the 3090 at a reasonable amount, or do I wait to buy the 5080 new and sell the 3090 when it's worth less? If the 5080 arrives this year at $899 it's a no brainer to wait, but sounds like it'll be more like Spring 2025 and probably cost $1200+ again (ugh). I'm torn and with no solid news on the 5080 I don't know what to do.
