I just received my brand new WA19 from Warm Audio (payed for it full price) and tested it against some mics from my locker.

Candidates are:
Warm Audio WA19
Beyerdynamic M260N ribbon mic
Beyerdynamic M201
Shure SM57
Warm Audio WA47jr in cardiod position

Since now i often used the WA47jr as mono overhead to fill up the gap of my overheads in AB position. I love the coles 4038 in that configuration and use them really a lot.
Bass drum mics are, AKG D12VR, Warm Audio WA47jr and a DIY Subkick
Snare mic is a SM57, top & bottom,
Toms mics are AKG 414 in hyper cardiod
Overheads as mentioned, Coles 4038 going trough a Warm Audio WA273 Neve Style clone mic preamp
All going trough a Behringer x32 digital console, raw into my DAW (Logic) with minimal processing.
The signals of the mono overhead mics mixed with the dry sounds and the room are always with compression (light comp via an 1176, some 4:1 ratio)

Drums are Ludwig Classic Maple 24,13,16 with Zildjian Cymbals, Snares are a 14x6,5 Supraphonic and a Raw Brass.

Let me know in the comments which mic you prefer!

Hey man!! Loved the video! The WA-19 sounds super cool!! A mono mic blended with other overheads is a cool idea, I’m definitely going to try!!

I think they all sounded good. I still believe that performance is more important than mic choice.

Hey, can you do a small rundown on your mixing, I find it just amazing, everything it’s in place, balanced and quite amazing

Wow that's a really good sounding room!!!! Also i really like the warm 47, which surprised me 'cause i didn't like it on kick

are you doing a mid-side setup for the room mics?

The Coles 4038s sound so good on drums. I'm currently using 1 to capture the whole sound of the kit and a bit of the room while I have SDC mics as over heads. Those 3 paired with an re20 on the kick, and a 57 on the snare, is my whole drum recording setup at the moment and I love it! I still need to try the Coles as overheads like you have them setup, but I need to get better mic stands and maybe some sandbags. Those mics are heavy and I try to be very careful with them!
