Location: Online – Zoom
Lecture Abstract:
Anupama Kundoo discusses the potential of architecture to address complex intersections of urbanization, people, technologies, resources, and the environment within the context of growing affordability issues. Her practice, the result of her quest for knowledge to build appropriately, considers projects as opportunities to build knowledge. Architecture is the result of building processes, and time needs to be invested despite the sense of urgency triggered by rapid urbanization.

About Anupama Kundoo

Who makes the laws/norms? I liked the argument. Earth construction is encouraged in India. Approved and not approved is never in view of norms lense. It is the idea and shear determination of Architects and contractors who built them... I slightly disagree with Anupama that the natural building materials need approval or not approved in India. However, when we the economies and scale factor and coupled with urbanization trends, we need to solve the problems of poor housing, gender equity and so on... I m sure presenter will agree that earth materials can not solve the bigger problems of the society becoz we have millions of people who needs houses and personal space in a city to grow. It's basic right for everyone and we as a designer and policy makers to solve such problem statements... we agree that modern methods of construction will mitigate those problems...
