A lesson in direction: The group enters the treasure room and finds the treasure, but as the viewer, you realize it's a lot smaller than you imagined, but that's ok because the value of it is no less grand.

And then Ben lights the rest of the room, revealing that treasure truly is as vast as the old legends say, all while the music swells over the discovery. Now that's how you make a scene!

As an adult, I can truly appreciate her profound feelings realizing she's looking at scrolls from the library of Alexandria. I would actually faint.

The history lover in me has always adored this scene. The euphoria of such a discovery alone would be something words could never adequately describe. That, and I couldn’t imagine how I’d feel if I found such a trove of priceless, irreplaceable, historic treasures. I’d be like a kid in a candy store. And just like Gates, I’d want them in a museum where the whole world could see and enjoy them.

I'm happy to say this was a film I watched as a child. It really hits different as a kid.

I started crying my eyes out when she said scrolls from the library of ALEXANDRIA! I love history so this scene was very powerful to me….imagine being in the presence of all of that….some of the smartest minds in history I do believe left us something like this but we’ve been unable to find it yet….just imagine being around all of that history….wow I love this movie

One of the top movie moments in cinema, which is saying a lot.

I get goosebumps every time I watch this. And the music has plenty to do with it.

I also imagine this happening in real life, and the thought process of the Masons who did not want all this history to be lost, but also did not want some greedy, selfish, and likely tyrannical individual to ever find it. So they had to leave behind clues so the treasure could one day be found, but also make the clues complex enough that only a well-educated and absolutely brilliant mind could work it out, trusting that such a mind would realize that no one person should ever have that much.

Two centuries later, a genius finally comes along to crack the code, find the treasure, and do the right thing with it. This is beautiful to me.

Sometimes I wonder to myself if there is a treasure even a quarter as grand as this buried/hidden somewhere in the world
