Great video!! 🙂👏 As someone who's family comes from Europe, I love European History!! Decebalus is one of my favorite and beloved people from History! 🗡️ 🛡️ (Same with his rival Emperor Trajan, one of my favorite Emperor's!)

I heard of him but didn't know much of him. This was very informative and he was an incredibly impressive figure. Definitely deserves the statue he has!

The Dacian Wolf standard was adopted by the Roman Cavalry. The Romans also adopted the Mura Dacianus (Dacian Wall) which was a earthen embankment faced with stone, to prevent an accumulation of water behind the stone wall, it had pores in it. Also, such was the vast Gold taken by the Romans. Emperor Trajan was able to; 1) build his forum, 2) no taxes for three years, and 3) fund his next war against the Parthians.

Your best storytelling so far. Enjoyed the ratcheting up of intensity when discussing the roman response to the uneasy Peace with their Dacian neighbours. Mentioning the roman civil war also helps to place this story within a historical timeframe.

Interesting sidenote : The rock carving is known to Romanians as the Sphinx.

Nice - waiting for something on Iberian Peninsula, before and after the Romans popped by.

Imagine if Dacia survived, man. Had Decebalus played things differently, Dacia would've lasted a lot longer, if not completely turned back the Germanic migrations into the Balkans and Greece!

"... in the end it was to matter not." 😂 Why???
Also, if you slowed down you'd retain a lot of listeners.

Dacia survived atleast 800 AD, that's why from Decebal to Gelu the history is erased from mainstream history. So Decebalus was no the last Dacian king.

The Northern tribes of Scotaland carried wind horns like the Dacians.

@0:28 What on earth is this map. The Roman province of Dacia was much bigger than what is being shown here. The Romans conquered about 75% of Dacia.
