Waiting for the DJI Pocket 3

I'm patiently waiting for the DJI Pocket 3, but the Pocket 2 is still a great camera. I go through some of the things I like and dislike about the Pocket 2 in this video along with what I would like to see from the Pocket 3.

Got the Pocket 2 on release day in 2020, recorded so many trip videos, and works great in low light. Used nearly every day for driving videos.

Great look back of your histroy with Pocket 2 ! I love it too, but I´m also waiting to Pocket 3 cause of the same reason as you said : Low light conditions !! Cheers from germany, Thomas

Great recap of the Pocket 2 advantages, and some worthy suggestions for the model 3 if it ever comes out.

That tiny screen! It can be frustrating, especially when you're not quite sure, intuitively, where the gimbal is pointing the camera.

I adhered a few white decal lines along the top of the camera so i can glance and see where it's pointing, rather than rely on that tiny screen's reference image.

When I feel really ambitious, I haul out the Pocket Extension Rod and power up a spare Android to use as a monitor in its holder. But that takes all the fun out of it!

The Pocket 2 is a weird little beast and DJI treats it like its estranged stepchild in the shadow of the action cam war. But it still has unrivaled image quality for its size and price. Digital stabilization has a long way to go before it's usable with smaller sensors in low light. Even my Sony ZV-1 (1" sensor, f/1.8) struggles at night stabilizing movement with the high shutter speeds needed to avoid the telltale jello. Getting to use 1/48 with a gimbal instead of 1/250 shutter speed is more than 2 extra stops of light, and no need to crop into the image. A Pocket 3 with the Mini 3 Pro's sensor, 10-bit D Log, a less nutty reliance on accessories for things that should be built in like wireless and a 3.5mm jack and 4K timelapse and 100fps would be about perfect. Not likely but an alternate mini version like Feiyu Tech's Pocket 3 portable gimbal would be amazing. And someone please make a pro mist filter.

Dad humor is on point in this video haha. The DJI Action 4 just came out, and it seems like low-light performance on it is better than any other action cam available in the market right now (maybe at least until the GoPro Hero 12 rumored to have a 1" sensor). If you can get your hands on an Action 4, a comparison to the Pocket 2 would be really interesting.

Just discovered the dji pocket 2 and would love it for home videos/family vacations. Thanks for the footage from WDW as our family goes pretty often there. How was it taking walkthrough videos at night in the parks and/or on rides? Looks like you had some shots from Disney springs.

Cool review! I haven’t traveled in years and finally planning some in the coming months. Looking to get a handy camera with stabilisation. I’m tech-challenged yet I bought a DJI gimble last year and have had trouble using it. Hope the Pocket 3 will have the improvements you mentioned. I’m almost 60 so you can imagine how difficult the tiny screen is on the eyes 😅

Cool video, love the pocket series. I switched to the osmo action 3 once my pocket 2 had a focus issue. Even though the action 3 is great I still miss the pocket 2. Just a fun, easy to use, great quality, type of camera.

DJI pocket product project is abandoned there will no more pocket camera as DJI if focusing on ACTION series camera

I dont think they are going to release it. The stabilization on the action 4 is on par with the pocket 2. I think they will be focussing on the action 4.
