I've only used Acrylic and Humbrol enamel, both of which dull down the finish a little, I think it's the fact of coating over it that loses some of the reflectivity, one of those things, which is a shame as it does wear if you handle it so a clear coat would be great, i'd say go with an automotive lacquer/cellulose clear coat, as clear as you can get which should improve the results but not having tried one I can't say for certain!

I'd like to see how the Alclad chrome looks with their own clear coat, having tried acrylic it really dulls the shine so i tend to not coat it at all.
Re Klear / Future, have a look at my video on that stuff and please pass it around to any modellers you know who may be spending an unecessary fortune on the old formula. Cheers.

I use Future* to protect most all the clear and chrome parts but not on the stainless side flash
on many cars just too shiny .
and i have a bottle of the Alclad II clear base have not used it . yet !
anyway good job mate..

you just answered my question I posted in part four, haven't been watching these in order. lol!  That combo of red and gold is similar to the color "Sierra Gold" as I do a google search and come up with red/gold 57 chevy pics from various souces officially the name the manufactures called it(for youtubers who don't know). I was going to attempt this combo with lacquer spray cans rather than air brush as my garage has a gas furnace that heats my home pilot light is open flame + an open flame hot water heater. can be dangerous even with the garage doors open and ventilation. and I don't have a way to get air brush equipment outside to do it as with simple spray cans.

@z34gtpz28 I haven't used BMF so can't say for certain, what I can say is Alclad is the closest thing to real chrome you'll find.
