Air India is truly unique. The all-women crew flight which departed from New Delhi on February 27 for San Francisco, returned at the Indira Gandhi International airport after flying across the globe. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200LR, flew over the Pacific on its journey to San Francisco, while the return flight flew over the Atlantic, encircling the globe. Air India is the first Indian carrier to operate on the Pacific route which has reduced the flying time by up to three hours.

Longest "active" flight holder. I believe the 777-200LR test flight by Boeing flying from Hong Kong to London through the pacific ocean, north america, and then atlantic ocean is the actual farthest flight ever done in history. Also, Air India doesn't fly 200ER anymore

The description incorrectly states the aircraft type as a 777-200ER, when in fact the plane is a 777-200LR. The 777-200ER would not have sufficient range for the 9506-mile flight.

uhhh.. no record broken. Boeing 777-200LR flew from HKG to LHR in 2005 going the long way, flying over the pacific, los angeles, new york and then onto London without landing and refueling. The distance was 11, 664 nautical miles and the flight time was 22 hours.

Pilots selecting Air hostesses for his particular Flight, selecting same hotel abroad for him and his crew, having a secrete meetings in the baggage compartment. Director of Air India getting sacked by our late P.M. Morarjie Desai, based on a Cartoon. Their Ground staff slapping passengers often and many more.
But I remember way back in 1985, the real courage shown by an Air India pilot.The plane's doors were closed and it started moving towards the Runway. But when he noticed a Passenger at the gate begging him with folded hands, he returned and picked him up and the plane took off. It only caused a delay of 5 Mts.
