This was such a fun weekend! If you missed my announcement a few weeks ago, I decided to put together a DIY solo writing retreat & writing conference for myself over a weekend. I had the idea back in March, but this was the first opportunity I've had to actually put the plan into action! This video covers day 1, Saturday, which includes lots of writing and inspirational speakers.
Have you ever done a writing retreat or something like this (either by yourself or with friends)? Let me know how yours went! I'm hoping I can do this again sometime over the summer. It was a very relaxing and productive weekend.

I know this video is from several months ago but this was just so cozy and helpful. I would have never thought to create a You Tube playlist to make the writing retreat feel more like an actual writing conference as well. Another great vlog! My family's two dogs (a lab mix and Jack Russell) used to love sitting out in the sun on the concrete slab in our backyard. We'd call them to come in because we were worried about heat stroke, especially in the hotter months (I live in Phoenix), and they never wanted to budge. Love the idea of watching writing panels and writer interviews too!

The idea of a DYI writing retreat is *chef's kiss*. I applied to a bunch of retreats and workshops this year and, so far, I've got nothing. Zip. Nada. I did think about doing my own 'writer staycation' as I called it, but ...well... my scheduling is ALL over the place (I am a caregiver, and we have PSWs who come in twice a day at different times every day). It's rough. I'm super excited to watch your vlogs, and see how it goes for you :D

Love the idea of a solo retreat/conference and love how you went about it. Like the doggies, our cats will seek out the hottest part of yhe House and cook, sometimes the older ones do it outside!

How can there be so many books in one person's head and heart?? I don't know Mary Balogh but she is PRODIGIOUS when it comes to writing, oh my! Maybe I will give one a try. Is there one you liked best? (Haha, I still have a couple of history books to read that I got for Christmas, but I guess I can always squeeze in another!) I liked your format for this retreat: time to write, time to read, time to watch & hear, time to organize/sort/clarify, and time for the dogs, too!
