Create a website on localhost

In this tutorial I tried to show how to setup a website on localhost.
Prerequisites:
1) Have xampp installed
2) A code editor

Software I use:
1) Xampp
2) Sublime Text Editor

Do you have to have all the default files in the htdocs folder? Or can you just delete them? Thanks
