Introduction into Application Performance Management

Seeing that there are so many people thinking that application performance has to do with load testing only, I decided to create an overview of all the aspects I can think of that are related to creating a fast and stable application. Nine domains of performance management came to mind, and I treat them briefly one by one in this video. In next video's, I will go into each one of them in more detail.

Hi Mr. Luimes, I really appreciate the sincerity you share your experience with other professionals like me. For that matter, I hope you will read this as as friendly, and just as sincere question :
Well, you know what they used to say in my far, far away village, in the fields, when someone was going :
"Well, you know about xx, I am sorry to say he really misuses the Scythe this and that"
?
They used to answer a very simple way : they look at you in the eyes, handing out a Scythe.

So my question is :
If some (not all) developers are doing it wrong, and you are sorry to tell them, do you help them doing it the right way?

I naturally operated that way, because of my personal history, first, not because I had a deep technical idea.

And I learn a lot from developers being wrong, a very big lot.
So as an architect, I encourage them to make huge mistakes, and :
* I learn a giagntic lot
* they learn a lot
* And I thank them for being so many times wrong.


All in all, I am now wondering If I should fire linus torvalds because his code style is so boring, having no mistakes.
I don't know what percentage will believe it, but I am now really considering it (Linus will handle that as a big boy, no worries)

About the RAM scenario, where the app consumes more and more RAM over time, and you know you have a capacity limit :



- A first dumb approach would be to say : wtf? is there no auto scaling?
- And a few miutes a honest thinking about what you said, from the prehistoric development world point of view, makes it a very interesting point :

Yes! I HAVE to monitor autoscaling in K8S, from thge point of view of the application !
And If I had considered honestly your presentation, I would have missed that very interesting transposition. Like a dumb microservices evangelist (religion and new idea...)

Thanks Arthur for the tutorial from your hands-on experience. Can you please share the ISO25010 sheet so that performance architects like me can use it as a cheat sheet from coverage perspective.
