My father raced his Z-28 with a 67 then a 69 being mildly competitive considering sponsoring himself against factory teams coming with a semi trailer with several cars, professional mechanics and the best tools available. I would say Camaro's and Mustangs were pretty equally matched. Don't forget AMC had a great car that was also competitive.

I think the 69 429 Cobra Jet was the real Camaro killer.

You say that the 302 boss delivered over 300 h .p. well the 1968 Mustang G.T. with it's 390 cu. In. engine was putting out 325 h.p. straight from the factory too . In my opinion , the 429 Cobra Jet engine was the real Z 28 killer.

Unfortanate for Ford though the Yenko came out the same year and beat every mustang performance wise ever produced till the early 90s and was only topped by another chevy the next year in the LS6 Chevelle SS proving chevy was king in the muscle era lol

Except the Boss was 350 h.p., the Z28 about 365. GM always had the best engineers and more of them. Consider Chrysler's 340: It was 13 cubic inches bigger than the 327. 340 max h.p. - 275 . 327- 375.

I have recently came into possession of a 2012 Boss 302 with 42 miles on it, plastic is still on the seats and carpet. I did some work to make it roadworthy (tires, fuel system, brakes etc). Not being a car l would normally buy l'd would consider trading it for something interesting, older Mustang (69-70) or ???

I remember my uncle on the design team for the Camaro he designed the suspension under the Camaro .

Hey Ford fans .
He also designed the suspension under the Ford 302 Boss . That's rite he was hired by Ford as well cause Ford couldn't come up with the answer to the Camaro in the racing series .

The 302 boss captured Laguna seca after the it was on the track . It out performed all the others including the Shelby .
