Simone Simons is the front woman for Epica. The whole band is awesome. Mark Jansen on guitar also sluppies the growly metal voice. A great contrast to Simone's voice. You will hear him hopefully in future songs 🤘🏻🤘🏻. One of the best concerts I've been to, was an Epica concert. Highly recommend Rivers by them

Epica are a Dutch symphonic metal band, and I was lucky enough to see them here in St. Louis back in 2014. Simone Simons was still a teenager when she heard Nighwish's Oceanborn album, and she changed her studies from pop singing to classical singing. I first heard her sing on the Kamelot song 'The Haunting' in 2005, and discovered Epica not long after that. (Simone is married to Kamelot's keyboardist Oliver Paloti)

'Cry for the Moon' was Epica's first song, and is still a great look back at how they started. 'Consign to Oblivion', live at the Zenith in Paris, is very popular with reactors.

Floor and Simone are BF´s, and they where roomies while at the Rock Academy. If you want to hear more of Simone´s voice in an setting with piano and guitar, try Epica "Once upon a Nightmare", Omega Alive!

Can't go wrong with Epica - it's through watching reactors such as yourself on here that I discovered them, & now I'm addicted!
You mentioned Floor in your reaction, if you want to see them together, I recommend watching them duet on 'Sancta Terra' from this same concert, as for other Epica tracks - as I say: really can't go wrong with any, but personal favorites: 'The Skeleton Key', 'Storm the Sorrow' & 'Abyss of Time' and 2 that will make you have feelings you never knew you had!: - 'Once upon a Nightmare' and 'Rivers'!

Great reaction! Thanks for checking Epica out! They truly are just masters of live performance—this concert was quite a while ago but they just this year had another full orchestra show called Symphonic Synergy, and being in that crowd was just unreal!!! That said, there’s a few songs I think every new Epican should experience:

I'm so glad you finally got to Epica. They have become my favorite band. Their live performances are even better than their recorded work.
For the next reactions, I recommend Once Upon a Nightmare from their Omega Alive virtual show, and their newest song, Arcana, from the recent Symphonic Synergy show, once again with a live orchestra and choir. You will be fully hooked.

Makes me always wonder how that symphonic orchestra and classical choir experienced being included in a Metal concert. It seems at least the 2nd violinist was enjoying herself, seeing her big smile when the audience started to clap along with the intro by the 1st violinist.

Epica has so many great performances to checkout but like some others here I'm gonna recommend Arcane live at The Symphonic Synergy.
